YouMotorcycleWhenever I hear from people about YouMotorcycle they seem generally surprised and grateful for the information here and it's presentation on the site. Emails from total strangers leave me feeling flattered. Sure, some people complain as well, but every subculture has its stuck-in-the-past scooterista with all of the mirrors. There's one thing I hear whenever I talk to advertisers though. They almost unanimously mention YouMotorcycle is a great looking site. They advertise and send samples here because the site looks good and reviews come out looking great. There's just one problem...

Bikers Are Awesome: Switch Riders VideoLet's face it: it doesn't take anything to stand on the soap box and declare yourself awesome. Anyone can talk the talk, but it takes a special something to live up to the hype. I'm not sure if that something is confidence, coolness, or cojones. Maybe it's planning, perservearance, and practice. Maybe greatness is the sum of a whole lot of things aligning just right for you, like all of the gears turning in synch in your favorite motorcycle motor.

You're about to watch an incredible motorcycle stunting video with over five million hits. It's titled "Bikers Are Awesome", and as far as I'm concerned it lives up to the hype. The three riders (Jeremy Merires, Thomas Sagnier, Kevin Parussini) from Switch Riders are incredibly talented. They exhibit a tremendous amount of balance, control, precision, and timing. This isn't just a motorcycle stunting video, it's the benchmark for all motorcycle stunting videos to come.

Baby Adrian thumbI've never been to Boston, but just like any citizen of North America, I have my ties to city, and to the Boston Marathon.

Once upon a time, back in the 1980s, a young doctor delivered a baby to a happy couple. Through no fault of the doctor, the baby was born quite ugly. The new mother told the new grandmother: "Ma, I had the baby, but he's ugly. He looks like an old chinese man." That isn't to say that old chinese men are ugly, because George Takei is a rock star. In this case, however, the baby was ugly. The doctor's name was Jean Marmoreo, and the ugly baby's name was me.

To celebrate 2013, the year of the Mojo, YouMotorcycle has been giving away one free Motorcycle Mojo magazine subscription every month! Just read more and scroll down to enter.

roadside wondersMarch's winner is Wendy from Roadside Wonders. Wendy has a fascination with "odd, weird, colorful, and tacky roadside finds. Obviously, my appreciation for crazy eyesores, giant advertising, and tourist enticements has never diminished. So, in 2005, I started a personal website to share pictures of the crazy things that I found while on motorcycle trips."

Lynn MacCallumFebruary's winner was Lynn MacCallum. Lynn started riding when she was over 50 and had just retired to Prince Edward County in beautiful Southern Ontario nine years ago. She started with a 50cc and moved up to a Suzuki Burgman 400 the following summer. She does a lot of daily riding, for both errands and for pleasure. Her husband came back to motorcycles after a long hiatus and rides a Suzuki Intruder. We're told he does an alright job of trying to keep up with Lynn. She likes to avoid the 401 highway superslab and prefers the fun backroad adventures with her husband or on her own.

It's great to see our free giveaways go to riders who truly love the sport. Way to go, ladies! Gentlemen, please start entering a little, come on now!

Wendy and Lynn won simply by liking YouMotorcycle on Facebook. That's it. They increased their chances of winning by following on YouMotorcycle on Twitter, and joining our newsletter.

It's great to see a Canadian motorcycle businesses like Mojo helping their local motorcycle community intiatives by throwing their support our way. I first signed up for Motorcycle Mojo a few years ago, after opting not to renew my subscription to another motorcycle magazine. I signed up for one year, and renewed for two after that. Later on, as YouMotorcycle on Twitter, I began tweeting a lot with Motorcycle Mojo. This led to me getting to hang out with Martin and the rest of Mojo team at the past two Toronto International Motorcycle Shows.

Thank you again to the Motorcycle Mojo crew for throwing your support behind the local Canadian online motorcycle community.

It's been a long time since we first gave out motorcycle subscriptions. Back then the site was tiny and everything came out of my own pocket. The promotion was relatively short and unsustainable. Things are different now. It's great to see a Canadian motorcycle businesses like Mojo helping their local motorcycle community intiatives by throwing their support our way.

KYMCO Quannon Naked 125iHmm...

Honda has dropped the price of the CBR-125R from $3,499 to $2,299. That's a $1,200 reduction that many Canadian would-be motorcycle enthusiasts are excited about. The 2012 Honda CBR-125R has come a long way from the first generation 2007 Honda CBR-125R we reviewed years ago. That was the same bike that my ex-girlfriend was ticketed on for doing 5 km/hr over the speed limit by Toronto Police. This new CBR has been redesigned, with a little more weight, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing on the highway, nor are the thicker tires.

While many will be welcome a lightweight and beginner-friendly motorcycle at a great pricepoint, we need to look at the vehicles that we aren't seeing, and that we likely won't be seeing in Canada any time soon, because of it. When it comes to the Canadian motorcycle industry, does Honda's CBR-125R do more harm than it does good?

YouMotorcycle follows some very cool motorcyclists on Twitter. It's a great way of finding out what's new and exciting in your field of interest.

When we think about it, motorcycles and the performing arts don't always go hand in hand. Something about running a motorcycle on a stage for too long killing dancers. Imagine my surprise when the most interesting motorcycle-related tweet I came across in the YouMotorcycle Twitter feed was from @Gabby_DB, the city of Toronto's top professional contortionist, and a non-motorcyclist (boo! hiss!).

She tweeted a post from Fstoppers, a video blog. The Progressive International Motorcycle show needed some promotional material. They teamed up with i.d.e.a. and with the help of performers and body paint artists began transforming humans into motorcycles.

An explosion at the Bombardier Recreational Product (BRP) Research and Development facility initially left 38-year-old Sébastien Tardif, who was working the night shift, and a 54-year-old security guard severely injured.  QPP reported that the blast rang out at approximately 12:20am Friday November 9th in the Eastern township of Valcourt Quebec.
