Chicks Dig Motorcycles TooWhile you might think the above quote describes women as passengers on motorcycles, truth is more women are actually owning motorcycles for their own riding purposes. In fact, the number of women riders in the U.S. has increased to about 7.2 million of about 27 million overall in 2009, according to a recent survey by the Motorcycle Industry Council, and this number of female riders is only expected to continue to uptick, especially since more women celebrities are stepping out.

What Motorcycle Will I Be Riding in 5 Years? This question jumped into my mind at 5 AM. So much for getting any sleep tonight. Think about your motorcycle. Now think about your dream motorcycle. Now look back at your motorcycle. It's not your dream bike, is it? Maybe you don't even have a dream motorcycle. Maybe you have a list of a few you'd really. I know I do.

I've been riding for 6 years now. In that short time I've owned 11 motorcycles or scooters. I've owned everything from a stable of midsize cruises, to a heavily modified 1990 Honda Hawk GT650 N, to a couple two-stroke scooters. I'm still trying to get it right, but along the way I'm learning what I like, what I dislike, what I keep coming back to, and why.

The only question left for you and I now, reader, is what are we going to ride next?

Flake and FlamesBack in 2011 I featured a world tour video project called Flake and Flames, by a motorcyclist named Jesper Bram. Bram is famous among motorcycle bloggers as the owner of Helmet Hair Motorcycle blog. Helmet Hair was once the coolest motorcycle blog on the internet, so I knew that Jesper's movie would be equally if not exponentially more awesome.

The boys travelled through the United States and Europe exploring the Kustom Kulture: low brow art, hot rods, custom cars and motorcycles, pinstriping, tattoos, pin-up chicks, tricks, and more. Flake and Flames is the inside look at the Kustom Kulture legends of our time and of decades gone by. It's our look at artists dedicated to art forms that society snubs its nose at publicly, but drools over privately.

Worth CadenheadOne day, Worth "E.T." Cadenhead decided to follow us on Twitter. It must've been a really slow news day because I asked if he'd like to do an interview on the site. Well, it turns out this resident Texan motorcyclist and motorcycle dealership worker is a little more interesting than his profile mug shot makes him seem!

Worth talks of growing up on bikes, motorcycle riding adventures, the Gypsy Motorcycle Club, and making the switch from cruiser to a sport bike that sportbikers don't actually consider a sport bike. Check it out:

Blog ChallengeYouMotorcycle tends to post some long stories. We use really awesome pictures to try to overcome our chatty-ness and keep the site looking damn good. This time we're going to try something a little different. Are you ready?

It would be easy to list a dozen motorcycle bloggers out there that do it just as well, if not better, than we do. We know this because we follow them. We also know there are thousands of amazing motorcycle videos out there on the internet (think YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).

Blog ChallengeBloggers, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to blog Your Favorite Motorcycle Video.

That's it. Just write a post on your blog, maybe title it "My Favorite Motorcycle Video" instead of using the word "Your", or go with Your, or something totally different. Whatever!

Share your favorite motorcycle video with us. Leave a comment right here when your post is up and I'll link to everyone's post.

Bikers Are Awesome: Switch Riders VideoLet's face it: it doesn't take anything to stand on the soap box and declare yourself awesome. Anyone can talk the talk, but it takes a special something to live up to the hype. I'm not sure if that something is confidence, coolness, or cojones. Maybe it's planning, perservearance, and practice. Maybe greatness is the sum of a whole lot of things aligning just right for you, like all of the gears turning in synch in your favorite motorcycle motor.

You're about to watch an incredible motorcycle stunting video with over five million hits. It's titled "Bikers Are Awesome", and as far as I'm concerned it lives up to the hype. The three riders (Jeremy Merires, Thomas Sagnier, Kevin Parussini) from Switch Riders are incredibly talented. They exhibit a tremendous amount of balance, control, precision, and timing. This isn't just a motorcycle stunting video, it's the benchmark for all motorcycle stunting videos to come.

Baby Adrian thumbI've never been to Boston, but just like any citizen of North America, I have my ties to city, and to the Boston Marathon.

Once upon a time, back in the 1980s, a young doctor delivered a baby to a happy couple. Through no fault of the doctor, the baby was born quite ugly. The new mother told the new grandmother: "Ma, I had the baby, but he's ugly. He looks like an old chinese man." That isn't to say that old chinese men are ugly, because George Takei is a rock star. In this case, however, the baby was ugly. The doctor's name was Jean Marmoreo, and the ugly baby's name was me.

Harley-Davidson EarphonesDo you have the Harley-Davidson socks, glasses, underwear, jacket and still can't get enough? Well search no longer as you can now listen to music while advertising for your favorite brand! In all seriousness, I had the option of which set of headphones I wanted to review and I selected these ones based on their looks alone. Opinions are like butts though - everyone has one. If these weren’t for you I’d recommend you visit Fuseplusyou.com and find a set that tickles your fancy. The question is: are they any good?

Shinya KimurabikerMetric just shared a great video on Shinya Kimura, a personal favorite motorcycle builder of mine. Shinya has been involved in motorcycles for over 25 years. He's the originator of the "zero style" custom motorcycle originating in Japan. His work would quickly gain recognition for its minimalistic and vintage style of bikes. Shinya shows the beauty of the raw materials incorporated into his designs. He now works out of his shop, Chabott Engineering, in Azusa, California. Shinya mentions in the video that he doesn't sketch out his creations, he simply creates based on how he feels in that moment. Check out the video to get a feel of what he's all about:

what is my motorcycle worthI often get emails from visitors asking how much their bike is worth. Some simply say, "I have a 1980s Honda, how much is it werth?" This week, Jamie L. sent me a little more comprehensive email, so I thought I would try to help. Jamie wrote:

"I am ready to sell my Harley. It is a 883 100TH ANNIV. It has approx. 4000 miles, garage kept, and has never been in the rain or in an accident. I would like to know what it is worth. Would you give me an idea. It also has added items."

Here are a few ways of finding out what your motorcycle is worth / what your motorcycle's resale value is.
