We generally don't like police overenforcing the roads, but in this case OPP looking to crack down on distracted drivers may just be a blessing for motorcyclists and scooterists. In today's adventure, my Harley Davidson and Ms. Chatty Cathy got into an argument.Read More »

The 250cc motorcycle market has finally opened up in the Western hemisphere. In North America, where the Ninja seemed to sit at the top of the 250cc sportbike throne all alone, it now faces challenges from both Hyosung, as well as from Honda's new CBR-250R. If you're looking for a 250cc cruiser, the only one available in Canada or the USA we'd recommend is the KYMCO Venox, but if sportbike motorcycles are your thing, here's a comparison of acceleration, speeds, braking and fuel economy from Popular Mechanics:Read More »
It was spring of not-so-long-ago and Ashley had finally started riding her own motorcycle. While I took my time warming up my faithful carburettor motorcycle, she fired up her new fuel-injected little machine and took off on me.
Now, you need to understand, whenever my girlfriend has taken off on me on a bike, bad things have happened. Like the time I told her to take things slowly around the parking lot. She gave me the "yeah yeah" and rolled her eyes. Then she crashed my first bike across the asphalt. I digress...
Ashley was involved in a motorcycle accident on her CBR-125R back in March, 2011. Someone who was stopped (illegally) in a bicycle lane pulled a U-Turn right in front of her. Disk Vs. Drum Brakes Once upon a time, someone on the internet stated that there was nothing wrong with drum brakes on a motorcycle: "Absolutely nothing. Plenty of stopping power and no fluid to change and bleed. Rear drum brake has been put in the same basket as carburetors, ancient technology that deserve ridicule." While we respect the drum brake, and the author's right to his own opinion, we felt that in this 21st century it's important to back up opinions with some facts.Read More »
In stock form, the KYMCO Venox has a great top speed for a cruiser. It does over 140 km/hr, but 5th gear is a bit of an overdrive and the bike doesn't have much pull left at that speed. The bike cruisers comfortably at 120 or up to 130, but at those speeds there isn't a lot of power left for passing.Read More »
