An explosion at the Bombardier Recreational Product (BRP) Research and Development facility initially left 38-year-old Sébastien Tardif, who was working the night shift, and a 54-year-old security guard severely injured. QPP reported that the blast rang out at approximately 12:20am Friday November 9th in the Eastern township of Valcourt Quebec.
Sadly Sébastien, a dynamometer operator for BRP and father of two, passed away on Monday November 12th from injuries sustained during the blast. The security guard is said to still be in intensive care. Vice-President of Product Development released a statement on the company’s website saying “Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.” The incident is currently under investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Since last Friday BRP has put in place a telephone hot-line to support its employees.
