The Truth About Distracted Driving

The Truth About Distracted Driving is an infographic sent into us by Neil at Southside Motor Factors. It splits distracted driving up into three categories (visual, manual, and cognitive), and lists some pretty scary facts:

  • Think food and drink is your friend? Think again! Over half of all drivers admitted that their driving had been compromised at least once by their decision to eat/drink while behind the wheel.
  • Nail polish will kill you. 5% of motorists admitted to applying make-up, perfume, or lipstick, while driving. Because they wanted to look good for their prison mug shot after running you over.
  • Drivers who send and receive text messages take their eyes off of the road for an average of 76% of the time that they spend texting.
  • By 2030, road traffic injuries are projected to be the fifth leading cause of death worldwide, surpassing HIV/AIDS, all forms of cancer, violence, and diabetes.
