Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are at it again, but their newest series, “Long Way Up”, will be on electric Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycles.
Today Apple TV+ released a teaser of “Long Way Up”, the latest motorcycle series, reuniting old best friends a decade after their last motorcycle world tour. The first three episodes of the series will be coming out on Apple TV+ on Friday September 18th, with new episodes rolling out weekly thereafter.
The duo will be covering 13,000 miles (over 20,000 kilometers) in just over three months, traveling through thirteen countries. Their trip will start at the tip of South America and take them through South America, into Central America, riding only on Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycles. They say it riding the LiveWire for this trip helps with sustainability, but there’s a lot of arguments about that claim.
Electric vehicles are a major theme in this series, much like the old BMWs were in the duo’s previous series, “The Long Way Round” and “Long Way Down”. McGregor and Boorman will be joined by David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, who have worked with the duo on their past series. Alexanian and Malkin will be following them in electric Rivian trucks. As the owner of a gas-guzzlin’ V8 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Edition, I’m hoping we get to see what the Rivian electric trucks are all about.
At time of publication, a teaser trailer isn’t publicly available, so you’ll want to check out AppleTV+ for that. Instead, here are trailers from the last two McGregor/Boorman series:
Fun Fact #1: Ewan McGregor was once rescued on the side of the road by our very own MISSRIDER. Ewan McGregor was sure to mention this on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
Fun Fact #2: Charley Boorman hasn’t just made it as an actor and adventurer, he given a lot to charity and in a previous life spent ten years as a painter and interior designer.
Will the LiveWires be up for the task? Will the Rivians be able to do everything a truck should? Will Ewan complain for half of the trip like he always does? We’ll find out in September.
QUESTION FOR THE COMMENTS SECTION: Are we tired of seeing these two riding their motorcycles all over the place yet, or are we looking forward to their adventures together again? Let me know!
