The Call of the Road

Just because a blog isn't participating in #29in29, doesn't make it uncool. For motorcycle blogs which retell the planning and riding of some seriously long motorcycle road trips, a daily blog post just doesn't make sense. MISSRIDER is one example (see: Woman Rides Her Motorcycle Alone Across The United States, and Female Motorcyclist Retells Travelling Across the USA).

Another site that doesn't need to update to stay awesome? The Call of the Road. One of those ride of a lifetime stories, The Call of the Road tells the story of an 8 week, 9,000+ mile ride from Florida to Alaska. Whether its the freedom, the machine, or the woman herself, everyone can appreciate something of beauty in a woman riding her motorcycle. For some women, a ride around town, or even the state just isn't enough. On July 4th, 2011, Madeline "MISSRIDER" Velazquez set out on the ride of a lifetime: travelling across the United States by motorcycle, all alone, aboard her Triumph Bonneville. MAC Rally of Hope

Canada, the world’s second largest country, spans six timezones and thousands of kilometres. From Rockie Mountains to Prairies, Borreal Plains to Mixwood Greenbelt, Ocean to Ocean, who wouldn’t want to cross Canada on a motorcycle? That was the question asked to me by Ian of the MAC Rally of Hope. In 2010 the rally raised $88,000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation. This year the rally has riders travelling across Canada with their sights set on raising over $100,000, all while exploring the great white north on their iron steeds.

Kleinburg

Motorcycle Ride to the Village of Kleinburg

The spontaneous and unplanned rides are sometimes the most fun. It started with a text message from my girlfriend: “What are we going to do today?” Before long we found ourselves near the historic village of Kleinburg, Ontario. Kleinburg is surrounded by beautiful hills and branches of the Humber river.

The town is picturesque and its early 1800s origins have been left unspoiled.
